My name is Sydney Guishard. I am the owner and Managing Editor of Writers-Publish.
This site is all about helping writers to be successful. I started this web site in the beginning of 2003 to help writers and publishers who are searching for assistance in the often confusing world of Publishing. I know it can be tough out there.
Back in 1990, I ran and operated a small press publishing company that produced about 6 titles per year. We published various topics in fiction and non-fiction.
During that time we had a simple criteria for choosing writers to work with. A new writer had to be marketable, well written, and display a passion for their area of expertise. The writer also had to be willing to work really hard at marketing their book because most book sales come from the author's marketing efforts.
We also had the opportunity to talk with many writers that did not meet our criteria. Where we could, we provided advice and encouragement. In a lot of cases what the writers produced was not very good, but I believe that it is important that we encourage people to continue writing. Who knows? With lots of practice and writing courses they may eventually produce a product suitable for publishing. I've always believed the act of writing itself provides the most benefit to the writer – not the reader. I Need Your Feedback
