Do You Need a Creative Writing Course?
Is it time for a creative writing course?
What is your forte? What I mean is; do you have a talent and passion for something in particular? Just so you know, these kinds of things can take a while to discover. Who knows when you'll stumble across it in life. It could be when you're 6 years old and it could be when you're 56. It just all depends. I think I first discovered one of my passions when I took a high school creative writing course. This opened up my mind to all sorts of new and wonderful things. I had no idea I liked to write. In no time at all I was writing stories of my own and having a blast doing so. There's something profound to be said about expressing your mind through creative writing. All is up to you.
Where to Take a Creative Writing Course
One of the best places to take a creative writing course is in college. I did this my junior year and made plenty of friends in the process. I wasn't taking the creative writing course as a mere credit to tack on and become that much closer to graduation. I was taking it because I plain and simply enjoyed writing. It's a craft if you didn't know. Writing not only gives you the ability to express or unload your mind, but it also allows you to create. You get to scribble down all those whacky characters, plots and ideas you've had stored up for so long. You get to decide how something begins and how it should end. All is in your hands. It's a great feeling. When you're the writer, you're the god of the story or piece. It's a powerful feeling that everyone should test out.
Value Your Writing
Once I finished my creative writing course, I went on to take several other writing courses that helped develop my skill and helped me understand what truly good writing was. You learn to weed out the garbage. You may not be a good writer, but I'll bet you're a much better re-writer. That's what it all comes down to in the end.
